"Italy and France, both are the wine world's historical giants," Robert Parker said. "These two countries' wines have been, and will continue to be, the industry benchmark for the entire world, especially for those 'New World' winemakers." He added: "Throughout Europe, Italy is the country with the most indigenous grape varieties; it is a treasure trove of wine in the world. Diversity and complexity are what make Italian wines so attractive."
For Parker, red wine brings its greatest joy from "diversity". In his career life's most beautiful moments was seeing local grape varieties being continuously developed. Especially in Italy - this land of multiple flower blooming.
Robert Parker begins to pay attention to Italian wines as well can be seen as a new beginning away from Bordeaux for him to discover charm of changing and surprising Italian wines & dealing with less skilled business men who make them may let later years Park more focused on discovering charm & value of Italian wines & continuous improvement of their quality system.
In 1978 year Robert Parker established famous “percentage grading system”. Initially this system was just personal tool he never thought that it would have such deep impact on almost all worlds wine industries till now.
