The oldest documents in the Sackrey library are a receipt for grapevines from the 6th century, which is one of about 50 pieces on display at the fair. There's also a glowing leaf from a vineyard in the 14th century, an edition of Arnaldus de Villanova's "De Venis" (one of the earliest important works on winemaking), and several manuscripts from the 16th century that were once owned by wine merchant and writer André Simon. If you won't be attending the fair or investing $2 million in his collection, Sackrey has already helped transcribe some of his library and it can be seen on his website: wine-maker.net. "We will show and showcase things never before seen at any fair or exhibition," Goldmont said. "Some books are so rare this will be my only opportunity to handle them and see them."
