KENDELL BROWN WINE ESTATE
Kenell Brown Estate, located in the heart of Bordeaux's Medoc region, boasts a rich history and unique terroir. Established in 1745 by Irishman Jacques Boyd, the estate was once home to John Lewis Brown, who played a significant role in shaping the region's wine industry. Despite facing financial challenges throughout its past, Kenell Brown has persevered through adversity and continues to thrive under the guidance of current owner Simon Halabi.
The estate spans an impressive 42 hectares of prime vineyard land, with soil composed primarily of sand and gravel. The vineyards are planted with a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (30%), and Cabernet Franc (5%). With an average tree age of 35 years, these mature vines yield exceptional grapes that contribute to the estate's renowned wines.
Kenell Brown produces both Grand Cru and Second Wine labels. For its Grand Cru offerings, carefully hand-selected grapes undergo rigorous sorting before being transferred to stainless steel tanks for fermentation lasting around ten days. A second fermentation takes place in oak barrels before aging for twelve months in equal parts new and seasoned barrels. In contrast, their Second Wine label follows similar processes but ages for only twelve months using twenty percent new barrels.
With a reputation for producing approachable wines filled with complex flavors such as black currant fruit notes and subtle hints of vanilla spice on the palate combined with well-balanced tannins that linger harmoniously into each sip—making it easy-drinking yet elegant—this esteemed winery is known worldwide as one of Bordeaux’s most sought-after destinations by connoisseurs seeking exceptional fine wines from this iconic region.
Years such as 1990、2000、2005、2006、2008、2009 & 2010 have been considered among its finest vintages—a testament to Kenell Brown Estate’s enduring legacy within France’s revered world-renowned wine landscape.
