Liu Yusheng: As a renowned wine writer, the rise of mobile internet has changed the way we write and publish. Paper books are selling less, while more writers turn to Weibo, WeChat, and videos. What do you think about this trend? Have you ever considered using mobile internet to spread your views and articles?
I prefer my own writing style from the past and don't often consider market trends. Social media is unfamiliar to me; I used to maintain some distance.
However, social media can connect many interesting things together. Its influence is profound; it's crucial for the development of the wine industry.
The division between new and old worlds is no longer suitable.
What do you think about recent changes in French wines that tend towards a new world style?
In the 1990s, there were many threats faced by old-world wines but these cannot fully represent France as sometimes climate also plays a role.
In our time now, it's not appropriate to distinguish between new or old worlds when talking about wines.
Drinking wine requires certification - it's an inevitable path forward:
How does training education impact upgrading of Chinese consumers' palate? According to statistics in 2015 China was WSET's second largest market worldwide - what do you think about today's Chinese Wine Education?
I'm not familiar with local situations but perhaps they resemble each other slightly. In our culture getting certified is very important even for those who love drinking alcohol as well as seeking certification.
Of course if one treats alcohol as part of their daily life then they won't need certifications like tea leaf certificates which hardly exist anymore either since everyone drinks tea now without needing them!
As far as your comments go would you say that such phenomena (some educational institutions starting sales) are within normal ranges?
