SLO Coast Wine Collective,
"We are grateful for this funding which will boost our marketing budget," said Stephen Dooley, the chairman of the group. "This money will allow us to reach new consumers in Arizona and Colorado, and provide our members with new distribution channels. These efforts will have an impact because we are entering as a collective rather than as individual brands."
Dooley is also the owner and winemaker at Stephen Ross Winery. He explained that the group would collaborate with California Polytechnic State University to establish benchmark data to help measure the region's awareness compared to other regions.
"This will help us better understand consumer motivations for buying wine and help us adjust our outreach efforts," Dooley said.
The initial efforts using these funds include showcasing SLO Coast wines at events such as the Colorado Mountain Winefest in Collbran, Arizona's Sedona Wine Festival, Aspen Food & Wine Classic, Crested Butte Food & Film Festival, and an annual Unified Grape & Grapes Conference held in Sacramento.
