"Lately, we've been selling some champagne and have achieved more than 20% investment return in just over a year," Lapierre said. "Our plan is to make it even better and be able to scale up."
Using data in new ways may also help the team identify themes within their curated collections. "We hope to provide a cohesive investment portfolio that investors can understand and ultimately enable them to diversify their investments over time," he said.
Founded by Nick King and Patrick Sanders in 2019, Vint aims to bring high-quality wine investments into the 21st century. It launched in May 2020 with stocks of SEC-qualified wine and spirits securities available for as low as $25, which were later sold with investors receiving proportional returns. Vint claims to be the only SEC-qualified wine investment platform where investors can add their Vint portfolios to their personal retirement accounts (IRAs).
Earlier this year, the company released its first "en primeur" offering, including 50 cases of Syrah produced by Christine & winemaker Peter Hunken from St. Barbara's Vineyard's 2021 Joy Fantastic Syrah.
